My hunting buddy Lou and I decided it was time to hunt Moose! We went to the Harrisburg Pennsylvania Outdoor Show and interviewed 20+ Canadian moose guides. This was an exhausting process until we met Barry and Sonya from Off The Grid Adventures. A family run outfitter with no egos. Lou and I went with our gut avoiding the larger camps and the “Do it all Guys” to hunt with Barry.
The hospitality at the camp was unmatched! Andrea over fed us with “down home cookin’” then beat us all in card games! Jason, my guide took me to the end of the earth as I requested. Lyndon, Tyler and the rest of the staff made you want to join in and help with fires, moose pack outs and lake boat chores!
What you all want to know….. The Hunt… It was insane! We saw a bear, caribou and yes, MOOSE!! I shot an amazing moose in the main camp – a 46” wide 19 Point bull.. It surpassed my wildest expectations. Lou got his Trophy Bull too, seeing 8 moose on his first day at spike camp!
When it was time to leave we all hugged and shared contact info. And yes, we have texted a bunch since the trip!
